Ah hahah, today was great!
Yesterday, I went out to a couple garden centers together with my mum, just sort of looking around at plants to see what was there. At Agway, they've had an absolutely giant, beautiful specimen of Monstera deliciosa, or windowleaf. Actually, it's called by about 7 different names (swiss cheese plant, mexican breadfruit, fruit salad plant, ceriman, split leaf philodendron (it's not, though), windowleaf... etcetera). But it's a very neat plant, so it just deserves all those names, I guess XD
Anyway! They've had this giant plant the last couple of times we've been there, and it was pretty expensive ($60) although you had to hunt a bit through the giant trashcan-lid-sized leaves to find it.
I guess they had trouble selling it, because yesterday when we were there there was a sign on it reading "free to a good home." Yeah, he's mine now baby! We had to come back the next day in our old crappy messy minivan with the back seat taken out, and even then he barely fit, but he's home now. His name's Phil (Monstera are often mistaken for split-leaf philodendrons, but they're not) and he's about 2 years old apparently, and 6 or 7 feet cubed. And his leaves are the size of trash can lids, and beautifully incised and spotted with holes.
HE'S GORGEOUS!! I love him. I'm sooooo happy I got him. I'm crazy for cool plants. He just barely fits into a space in our front hall. Beautiful!

So yeah. That was my day. I still can't believe it. I'm so lucky I found him before anyone else got him. And Phil's lucky he found me, too. XD (I know, I'm completely insane. shush.)
