Life as usual

Mon Jan 21, 2008, 5:50 AM
Not much to comment on, really. My life is pretty dull.

I'm sort of half-happy, half-dissatisfied with my art stuff. Probably if I wasn't so lazy I'd be much better by now :| I'll try to work harder.

It'd be nice if I could do commissions for some extra cash... but I'm kidding myself if I think people want to pay money for my stuff. If I could make prints of some of my better paintings to sell on Etsy or something, that'd be nice... I don't really know anything about having prints made, though ._."

Monstera Deliciosa~

Mon Nov 26, 2007, 9:32 PM
Ah hahah, today was great!

Yesterday, I went out to a couple garden centers together with my mum, just sort of looking around at plants to see what was there. At Agway, they've had an absolutely giant, beautiful specimen of Monstera deliciosa, or windowleaf. Actually, it's called by about 7 different names (swiss cheese plant, mexican breadfruit, fruit salad plant, ceriman, split leaf philodendron (it's not, though), windowleaf... etcetera). But it's a very neat plant, so it just deserves all those names, I guess XD

Anyway! They've had this giant plant the last couple of times we've been there, and it was pretty expensive ($60) although you had to hunt a bit through the giant trashcan-lid-sized leaves to find it.

I guess they had trouble selling it, because yesterday when we were there there was a sign on it reading "free to a good home." Yeah, he's mine now baby! We had to come back the next day in our old crappy messy minivan with the back seat taken out, and even then he barely fit, but he's home now. His name's Phil (Monstera are often mistaken for split-leaf philodendrons, but they're not) and he's about 2 years old apparently, and 6 or 7 feet cubed. And his leaves are the size of trash can lids, and beautifully incised and spotted with holes.

HE'S GORGEOUS!! I love him. I'm sooooo happy I got him. I'm crazy for cool plants. He just barely fits into a space in our front hall. Beautiful!

:boogie: So yeah. That was my day. I still can't believe it. I'm so lucky I found him before anyone else got him. And Phil's lucky he found me, too. XD (I know, I'm completely insane. shush.)

Devious Journal Entry

Fri Sep 21, 2007, 1:51 PM
Suddenly I'm really excited about the new Nights... maybe I'll do a painting or something :)

Although, it seems like a lot of the art I do is Nights... I should probably concentrate on more typical stuff, haha.

I guess after I do that, I'll paint a bowl of fruit to make up for it.... ugh (heh).

I really need to be more serious about practicing my art... I'm not really that good anymore. I'm so lazy that I almost never do anything nowadays, and when I do it's just for fun.

But I guess it's not so wrong to have fun with art...

A realization

I'm jack-of-all-trades and master-of-none, and I like it that way.

I'm alive

Yeah.

So I took a bunch of pictures finally of stuff I did during the year (pottery, mostly) and I'll be uploading those soon. I hope it's worth it, my doofus cat tried to run out the door as I was taking pictures and I had to crawl under the deck in the mud to catch him D:
